Ripples of Light: A 24-Hour Global Meditation Event

July 27–28, 2025. Join a wave of intentional practice rippling across the globe — hour by hour, hand to hand, heart to heart.

Ripples of Light is the third annual fundraiser by the Yoga Studies Institute (YSI). This year, we celebrate 50 years of studying the ancient classics with Geshe Michael Roach. To honor this milestone, we invite you to a 24-hour guided meditation relay — 47+ sessions taught by teachers from YSI and our global partners.

Each 30-minute session is guided by a different teacher from the worldwide community. The meditations focus on emptiness and the profound nature of reality — helping you experience what we call Touching the Diamond World.

You can join any or all of the 48 classes. The event begins at 8:00am New York time on July 27 and ends at 9:00am on July 28.

Event Structure

To start the 24-hour relay, YSI instructors will begin with the first two of the 8 limbs of yoga: a celebration of good actions, and practices to help with missteps.

The sessions will then continue with:

Asana — physical postures
Pranayama — breathing practices
Pratyahara — preparing for meditation
Meditation itself

Special guidance on Touching the Diamond World will be given by Connie O’Brien, followed by a meditation session on that theme.

Why This Practice Matters

People are searching for change — not just material, but deep change in how they see the world. This event is designed to offer that transformation by guiding participants to directly perceive reality.

This year we celebrate Geshe Michael’s 50+ year teaching career, during which he has taught hundreds of thousands of students worldwide, given thousands of classes, and translated more texts than perhaps anyone since Je Tsongkapa, 500 years ago.

These teachings have been made accessible through 50+ Worldview Organizations — institutes, retreats, publishers, and clubs — all created to help others Touch the Diamond World.
